Thank you for choosing aniMotion ("we," "us," "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding your information when you use our mobile application, aniMotion (the "App").

Our core privacy principle is to give you control over your activity data. While we require a user account to provide our service, your sensitive health and GPS track data is processed exclusively on your device and is not uploaded to our servers.

1. Information We Collect

To provide and maintain your account, we collect the following types of information:

  • Account Information: When you register for an aniMotion account, we collect personal information necessary to create and secure your account. This includes your name, email address, and a password. This information is used for account management, user identification, and communication purposes.
  • Subscription Information: If you subscribe to a premium tier, our payment processing partners will handle the transaction. We may receive confirmation of your subscription status (e.g., Free or Premium) to unlock app features, but we do not collect or store your credit card details or other sensitive payment information.
  • Garmin Connect Credentials: This information is used to integrate aniMotion with Garmin services. Your credentials are stored on your local device and encrypted. We do not transmit or store this information on our servers.

2. Information We Do Not Collect or Transmit

We want to be crystal clear about what we do not do. The App is designed to keep your sensitive activity data on your device.

  • No Health or Activity Data Transmission: While you use the App to view and animate your GPX, TCX, or FIT track data—which may contain information about your location, elevation, speed, and heart rate—this data is processed exclusively on your device. It is never uploaded to our servers.
  • No Background Location Tracking: The App does not track your location in the background. It only processes location data from the files you explicitly choose to open or from a recording session you actively start within the App.

3. Information Processed Locally on Your Device

The App's primary functionality is centered around data that you provide and that remains on your phone.

  • GPX/GPS Data: The App requires access to your device's storage to let you open, view, and process GPX, TCX, or FIT files. This data stays on your device and is subject to your device's own security measures.
  • Application Settings and Preferences: To provide a better user experience, the App may save your preferences locally on your device. This could include map style, animation speed, or your choice to display elevation or heart rate data. This information is stored only on your phone.

4. How We Use Your Information

The limited information we collect is used for the following purposes:

  • To Provide and Manage Your Account: To allow you to sign in, manage your subscription, and secure your account.
  • To Communicate With You: To send you important notices about your account, updates to our services, or changes to our policies.
  • To Provide App Functionality: To enable features based on your subscription tier (e.g., Free vs. Premium).

5. Permissions Requested in the App

The App may request the following permissions on your device. These are required only for the App's core functionality, and your data is not collected or shared by us in ways other than described in this policy.

  • Storage Access (Read/Write): This permission is necessary for you to open your GPX/GPS files from your device's storage and to save any output you create. The App only accesses the files you select.

6. Third-Party Services

The aniMotion App is built using standard development tools and libraries, which may include:

  • Mapbox: The App uses the Mapbox SDK to display maps for visualizing your GPS tracks. Mapbox may collect anonymous, aggregated data for its own service improvement and billing purposes. We encourage you to review the Mapbox Privacy Policy for more details on their data handling practices.
  • Google Play Services: The App is distributed through the Google Play Store, which may collect usage and diagnostics data as governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
  • Firebase: We may use Firebase services for account authentication and to manage your subscription status. This involves transmitting your account information (email, name) to these services. Please review the Firebase Privacy Policy for more information.

We have configured these services in a way that minimizes data collection and does not send any of your personal activity or health data to them from our App.

7. Children's Privacy

Our services are not directed to individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete such information and terminate the child's account.
